May Print of the Month

The topic for May was “Candid”.

It was a two way tie for this months print of the month. Congratulations to both Tom and Jamie.

The winning entries are featured below along with a brief insight from each of the winning photographers immediately after their image.

Tom Gray:

Kieran. Taken on our annual trip to the Saltees, he was so in the moment with gannets flying around him which is quite a spectacle, I was looking to get into a better position and was lucky to catch him.

Jamie Dowling:

Maya playing in the garden.

We are all aware that it can be difficult photographing children and animals. They wont sit still and get distracted etc etc.

This can work in your favour if the topic for print of the month is “candid”!

It was a nice day and Maya was entertaining herself in the garden. She was oblivious to me sitting nearby with my handy Olympus EPM2 and 17mm pancake lens.

It was a little tricky to frame her as she was moving quite fast. I took about six shots and settled on this one.

The Sepia effect was achieved using the built in Sepia filter in the EPM2.
